Working closely with the Environment Agency

Increasingly, due to VOIP and Cloud based communications, we are seeing an increasing number of used phone systems that are classed as electrical waste products. Our most recent collection totalled over 3000 desk phones from a large financial corporation. But this isn't the whole story.
Companies communicate via voice and email but also by print! Everyone knows any small to large business with a number of employees will have the time honoured A4 printer. We have found that companies are moving to smaller and smarter printing and as a result we are collecting an increasing number of brand name printers and photocopiers for disposal.
Each unit is stripped down part for part, in an effort to reduce waste, and all plastics, electronics and left over chemicals are disposed of correctly. How do we do this? We work with some of the biggest name recyclers that you have never heard of, big names that utilise a willing workforce to break down photocopiers and printers into recyclable pieces.

We regularly co-operate with the Environment Agency to be absolutely sure that we work within the boundaries of the law when it comes to recycling electrical waste. WEEE regulations are strictly adhered to, given that its the future of the environment that's at stake, and we are careful not to overstep the boundaries set out by European Law.
We take great care to ensure that whatever we dispose of is disposed of legally in the correct manner, no matter if its air conditioning units and commercial refrigeration or Computers and Used Telephone Systems. We can assist you in disposal of your redundant technology.

Computer and Server Disposal for Business - What about your Data?

We see a number of old computers, servers and business telephone systems that come to us for ethical recycling that have not had hard disk drives removed. On these drives could be your personal details, company secrets, emails, spread-sheets, word documents and images which users have forgotten about.

While this is not an inconvenience to us, we dispose of old computer equipment ethically and this involves data destruction, we would always remind the customer that they should take care of personal and professional data.

The problem with today's throwaway Information Technology is that we create so much data. Every day, while you use your computer, your computer is recording a log of the activities on your computer, from software installed to web pages you have visited. Where this becomes more serious is when computers (especially laptops) are still able to connect to the business via a VPN (Virtual Private Network) which could allow unscrupulous thieves and chancers the ability to connect to your network and steal personal data or cause havoc and destruction.

This would also apply to old mobile devices such as Blackberry's which have become less of a trend within business over the years. We have seen a number of Blackberry phones which have the ability to still send business emails and connect to business systems.

When we collect old computers, servers and handsets from a business we can assure you that all the data is destroyed. Either by using software to permanently wipe the drives of the devices or in the case of computer hard drives, physical destruction is the best option.

As part of our commitment to Ethical Electronic Waste Recycling, our T11 WEEE certification gives you added peace of mind that no electrical equipment (desktops, laptops, projectors, printers, cables) will ever go to landfill and is stripped to its component parts, plastics and metals, and recycled ethically.

Its worth pointing out at this point that not all electrical waste is made of metal. In fact, a large percentage of an Avaya or Mitel deskphone is plastic. Plastic is much more difficult to dispose of ethically. As an example, the plastics themselves are worth nothing, not even in bulk, and to make phone plastics recyclable all stickers need to be removed from each plastic part. Usually, telephone handsets and headsets have little to no value and in this case we will inform you of any charges that may be necessary to cover recycling costs or provide a cost neutral service.

Don't be put off, we want to be your go to guys for WEEE Waste, and  if you need your old electrical equipment recycling give us a call today. We will always provide a high quality, approachable and value for money quality of service.

Disposal of used phone systems and correctly recycling old technology.

A large corporation can have thousands of staff, and with that you will need to include the thousands of telephones needed to keep the company connected. If an offer comes in of a few hundred phones we usually find these more difficult to deal with, as collection costs will need to be factored in to make our recycling process viable.

We are not a charity, nor do we recieve any government funding! So to make sure we are able to do our job (our business) correctly we need to keep our bank manager happy. We get very excited when a larger number of devices comes our way! Its a lot easier logistically, to pick up over 10000 handsets and to dispose of them ethically. Some additional kit that comes with such a large, bulk disposal can cover the costs to the customer and this is great news for you!

Usually, on a moderately large number such as say 1000 handsets of a known brand, we can over a few pence to a few pounds per phone. Obviously this is depending on the age of the deskphone. A 1991 BT Rhapsody desk phone for example may sell at £25 pounds in good working order. However, foolishly expecting to clear 1000 phones in a short space of time at that price could take years (and usually does)

Most companies will call us with just a few handsets, laptops, computers and a server or two. We can make this work for you, not a problem. We advise that you collect large amounts of redundant technology and contact us every 3 to 6 months for bulk clearance. We can dispose of quicker at less cost to you and ourselves.

We specialise in computer recycling and telephone recycling so we are able to dispose of a wide variety of redundant technology, circuit boards, plastics and metals that come as part of the package. This includes plastic telephone which contain very little circuitry and has no scrap value.

As part of an office clearance we are sometimes asked to recycle old cables, desks, chairs and cabinets as part of the package. We have contacts in the Greater London area who can quickly provide us with the logistics necessary for large offiec clearance and I.T. disposal and recycling projects.
